    Southern Singletrack Race #1

Come out and run with us on the Turkey Run Trail at beautiful West Point Lake (Georgia side). The start of the loop is wide grass road bed next to West Point Lake and Turkey Run Trail is mostly rolling single track. About 150' of elevation per loop.

The course for both the 5k and the 10k is one scenic, mostly single track trail loop with a tiny little bit of road thrown into the mix. It’s pretty and at least half of the trail runs alongside the lake. This course is a great intro to trail running and very gently rolling!

This race is capped at 100 runners and will sell out! So don't miss out on the awesome small trail race event atmosphere and one-of-a-kind swag! Every racer will get a custom BOCO running cap!!

  • The Widow Maker and Whiskey Still 5K

    3.23.2024

    Southern Singletrack Race 2

Southern Singletrack is excited to announce that the Widowmaker Ultra and Whiskey Still 5K/10K is back again for 2024! This race is held at Sprewell Bluff Park in Thomaston, Ga which is just 50 miles south of Atlanta. Sprewell Bluff Park is one of the most beautiful and best kept secrets in Georgia. It features the gently flowing Flint River that meanders thru steep Rocky Bluffs. When you see the magnificent views from the bluffs you won't believe you are in South Georgia. Proceeds to benefit Sprewell Bluff Park!

    8 Hours Ultra Marathon

Whoever can run the most loops of The Widowmaker Trail from 8:00AM to 4:00PM wins the race! Run as many loops as you can until The Widowmaker has you begging for mercy. This trail is a mostly single track 6-mile loop and has some very steep and technical sections. Although this trail is beautiful most of you will want to quit after just one loop.

    Whiskey Still 5k/10k

If running for 8 hours scares you then you can choose the 5k or 10k options. The 5k is just as beautiful and winds along the Flint River on singletrack trails and runs by an old whiskey still. The 10k follows the same loop at the 8-Hours Ultra. Both the 5k and 10k races will begin at 8:15AM.

  • Bucky's Boot Top Prohibition Run

    4.13.2024

    Southern Singletrack Race #3

Southern Singletrack Trail Series is thrilled to announce the 3rd annual Bucky’s Boot Top Prohibition Trail Run –7K/14K/21K.

The race will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 8AM EST to benefit Mercy Med. This race is capped at 75 runners due to limited parking availability as mandated by the State Park. This race will sell out! If this race sells out, there will be NO additional spots sold.

This is a loop race on the Boot Top boot-shaped “Loop” starting at the east side of the Dowdell’s Knob overlook area onto the Pine Mountain trail headed eastbound towards the direction of Warm Springs. Runners will take a left onto the 1.3-Mile-long Boot Top Trail that will cut back up and over Dowdell’s Knob Road leading back over to the Pine Mountain Trail towards west of Dowdell’s Knob. Runners will go left onto the Pine Mountain trail headed back to complete the Boot Top Loop. This race is a nice change from the usual ol’ trail races around FDR and we know you will want to join us in running ‘round and ‘round the 4.3-mile boot shaped loop running from the law like the Prohibitionists in the ‘30’s! This loop promises a super fun mix of rocky, rooty, and rolling singletrack. If you stop or slow down long enough you will enjoy one of the many waterfalls in FDR, tons of wildlife, the memorial rock at the 1953 plane crash site, and the infamous elephant rock along the way back to the finish line. So come on out to the “east end” of FDR State Park, enjoy a loop or or two or three with friends, and hang out afterwards overlooking the tremendous views of the “Valley” from the beautiful Dowdell’s Knob overlook! (Rumor has it that lots of folks love this spot so much that they get married here – including one of your RD’s!!) You will run one loop for 7K, two loops for 14K, and three loops for 21K.
